"Those Were the Days," a show featuring folk songs of the 1960's folk revival. With this concert we return to the roots of our music — the classic songs of Pete Seeger, Bob Dylan, Peter, Paul and Mary, Simon and Garfunkel, etc. as well as traditional songs associated with the 60's. Come hear songs like "If I Had a Hammer," "Blowing in the Wind," "Puff the Magic Dragon," "Bridge Over Troubled Waters" — and sing along with them! Since the year 2010 is the Golden Anniversary of the start of the 60's (wow! has it really been 50 years?) and this is the music we grew up on, we've put together a tribute / celebration concert with these quintessential songs. We will be joined by San's daughter, Emily Rose, on vocals and violin.

This will be the record-release concert for a new solo CDs by Laz: "Hafiz and Mystical Companions" — poems of Hafiz, Mirabai, Rumi, Rabia, and Kabir translated by Daniel Ladinsky. Laz has set to music some amazing spiritual poems by these ancient poets, whose ecstatic lyrics inspire, support and guide us on our path.

These poets all lived in different times and places — from 8th Century Iraq (Rabia), to 13th Century Turkey (Rumi), to 14th Century Persia (Hafiz), to 15th Century North India (Kabir) and 16th Century West India (Mira). But they all had something very precious in common — a direct experience of God, and a desire to help others reach that same state of divine realization.

The root of the word "companion" comes from the Latin, com, together, + panis, bread, meaning, "ones that have broken bread together." Although these poet saints never met, and in most cases didn't read each others' poetry, or even hear about each other, they'd all partaken of the same bread of ecstasy, they were all Mystical Companions in the heart. Through their poems they offer us this same companionship, this same nourishment.
